Whether it is a fact that the Sindh Government changed the English spelling of the Province from “Sind” to Sindh” as well as name of competent authority?

 

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD AYAZ SOOMRO, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs:

Yes. In pursuance of the decision of the Government of Sindh, the spelling of Province from “Sind to Sindh” was changed and such notification was issued by the Chief Secretary         on 27-3-1989.

 

 

*1780. MS. HEER ISMAIL SOHO: Will the Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that during the period from 2002 to 2008 new courts had been established in the Province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above in the affirmative, location-wise number of courts as have been established?

 

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD AYAZ SOOMRO, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      The location-wise number of Courts as have established during the period from 2002 to 2008 in the Province of Sindh is as under:-

04 District and Sessions Courts at Umerkot, Shahkot@ Kamber, Kahmore @ Kandhkot and Jamshoro @ Kotri.

24 Family Courts in each Judicial District of the Province (i.e. at Karachi (East), Karachi (West), Karachi (South), Karachi (Central), Karachi (Malir), Thatta, Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar @ Mithi, Umerkot, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Naushehro Feroze, Khairpur, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Larakna, Mirpurkhas, Kahmore @ Kandhkot, Shahdadkot @ Kamber and Jamshoro @ Kotri).

The total fees paid to private advocates to defend cases on behalf of the Sindh Government between 1st April, 2008 and 30th June, 2008?

 

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD AYAZ SOOMRO, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs:

The department paid an amount of Rs. 955,000/- only as fees during the period from              1st April, 2008 and 30th June, 2008 to the private Advocates to defend the cases concerning Sindh Government.

 

 

*1181. SYEDA MARVI RASHDI: Will the Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it fact that Sindh Government has announced Rs 30 million grant for Sindh Bar Council;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in affirmative, reasons therefor?
