(a)Is it a fact that Sindh Government has decided to establish a Poultry Research Institute and Poultry Hatchery at Karachi;
(b)If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI,Minister for Livestock:
(a)Poultry Research Institute have already been established since 1970 at Korangi Karachi and Hatchery is functioning.
(b)Yes, the answer is affirmative. The Poultry Research Institute has the following sections are as under:-
1.Nutrition
2.Pathology
3.Housing and Management
4.Breeding and Incubation including Hatchery
5.Economics and Marketing.
*2705. MS. HEER ISMAIL SOHO: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-
(a)Is it a fact that Sindh Government has initiated program to establish a cattle colony with the collaboration of private sector during 2008-09;
(b)If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

(a)Yes.
(b)Construction of Cattle Colonies at 06 locations were proposed under the Development Scheme “Establishment of Cattle Colony with District & Private Participation Phase-I”.
Construction work at following four locations have been started during 2008-09.
(i)Rohalri, Union Council Mahrand Taluka Mithi District Tharparkar.
(ii)Deh Chuch Mora Union Council Ketlari Near Naukot Fort Taluka Diplo District Tharparkar.
(iii)Umerkot Tappa Additional Keplore Taluka and District Umerkot.
(iv)Khairpur
*2706. MS. HEER ISMAIL SOHO: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-
(a)Is it a fact that Government has decided to form community livestock farm at Ahmedabad model village in district Thatta;
(b)If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, whether the work on the said farm has been started, if not, time by when it will be completed?

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI,Minister for Livestock:
(a)“Establishment of Community Livestock Farm at Model Village Ahmedabad District Thatta” was started during the year 2006-2007 as a development scheme sponsored by Livestock Department, Government of Sindh, but later on the execution of the scheme was transferred to District Government Thatta under the directive of Chief Minister Sindh.
(b)The PC-I of the scheme is under revision and after that scheme will be completed in the year 2010-11.

(a)Is it a fact that Government intends to start a program for the welfare of the people through livestock at the costal areas of Thatta and Badin;
(b)If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, the details thereof?

No, at present Government has no such program in hand.

(a)Number of camel species at present existing in the Province;
(b)Is it a fact that due to no proper arrangement of there look-after its species are slowly exhausting;
(c)If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, steps taken or intended to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)There is one Camel species in Pakistan.
(b)No.

Monthly production of milk of Red Sindhi Cattle Farms Tando Muhammad Khan and Mirpurkhas?

The Livestock Department is maintaining Red Sindhi Cattle Breeding Farm@ Tando Muhammad Khan and Livestock Experiment Station Nabisar Road in District Mirpurkhas. The Main Objective of these farms is to conserve Red Sindhi cattle breed and Tharparkar cattle Breed in Original Characters. The Various experiments on these breeds are being conducted at these experimental stations.
The milk production of these farms is stated as under:-

Steps being taken by the Government in order to improve social economic condition of rural areas through the development of Livestock?

Following Schemes are being implemented for development of livestock in rural areas.
(i)Development of Milk and Meat Production in Sindh.
(ii)Construction of Taluka Veterinary Dispensaries in Sindh Phase-I.
(iii)Construction and up-gradation of Veterinary Centers to Veterinary Dispensaries.
(iv)Establishment of Cattle Colonies with District and Private participation phase-I.
(v)Strengthening of Research & Training Institute of Livestock Development at Tando Muhammad Khan.
(vi)Establishment of Bhambhore Dairy Village & Processing Zone for Meat Animals with Public-Private Participation at District Thatta.

Time by when the next livestock census will be conducted?

Progress on MOUs signed between Sindh Government and Pakistan Dairy Development Company?
ANSWER
MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI,Minister for Livestock:
The Pakistan Dairy Development Company had provided expatriate manager farm production for one year in compliance to para-5 of the Memorandum of Understanding to assist in introducing latest farming management and proposed budget for up gradation of Red Sindhi Cattle Breeding Farm, Tando Muhammad Khan but the other parts could not be implemented as Government of Sindh had established Sindh Dairy and Meat Development Company which has been assigned the jobs mentioned in the Memorandum of Understanding.
