Time by when scheme for establishment of a technical training center Mithi for training of skilled workers of coal mining will be completed?

 

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILANI, (Chief Minister) Mines & Minerals Development:

There is no scheme pertaining to this Department for “Establishment of a Technical Training Centre Mithi for training of skilled workers of coal mining.”

 

 

*723. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Mines & Minerals Development be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the Department is establishing a training institute for “Mechanized mining/ coal based power generation”;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in affirmative, details thereof such as type of courses and number of people to be enrolled during the fiscal year 2008?

 

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILANI, (Chief Minister) Mines & Minerals Development:

(a)      It is a fact that Department has proposed to prepare a scheme for Establishing a Training Institution for mechanized mines/coal based power generation. The scheme is at the stage of preparation of PC-I.

(b)      The institute is not expected to become functional during the fiscal year 2008-09.

 

 

*855. MR. NADEEM AHMED BHUTTO: Will the Minister for Labour be pleased to state:-

(a)   Any additional residential units constructed by the SWWB for Labour colonies during the financial year 2004-2005 in the Province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in affirmative, District-wise details thereof along-with the amount spent thereon?

ANSWER

MR. AMIR NAWAB, Minister for Labour:

No additional residential unit was constructed by the Sindh Workers Welfare Board for Labour Colonies during the Financial year 2004-2005 in the Province.

Amount allocated for the purchase of various types of equipments for each Technical Training Centre running under Labour and Manpower Department during the last three fiscal years alongwith sanctioning/allocating of the said budget?

MR. AMIR NAWAB, Minister for Labour:

An amount of Rs.11,435,800/- was allocated for the purchase of various types of equipments for the Technical Trainings Centre running under the Directorate of Manpower & Training Sindh, Labour Department during the two fiscal year under the S.N.E. 2005-2006 to 2007-2008. Whereas no funds were allocated under S.N.E 2006-07. The Centre-wise details are at Annexure-“A & B”.

CRITERIA FOR ALLOTMENT OF PLOTS IN SMALL INDUSTRIES ESTATE (EXTENSION) HYDERABAD/

On the demand of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI) another 50 acres land have been acquired from Board of Revenue situated at Hoosri Tando Muhammad Khan Road, Hyderabad. 160 plots (1000 sq.yds and 500 sq.yds. had been developed. In 53rd Board of Director's meeting it was decided that plots be allotted through computerized balloting to be carried out by NADRA. Following are the main terms and conditions.

 

·         10% cost of the plot is recoverable at the time of submission of application form.

·         Balance 90% cost of plot is recoverable in two years as soon as balloting is carried out and possession handed over.

·         Unit is to be established within 02 years.

·         Cost of plot is fixed Rs. 800/= per sq. yard.

Application forms for allotment of plots are under scrutiny. After securitization, forms will be sent to NADRA for balloting. The plots will be allotted as, soon as the said process is completed.

 

 

*1101. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Mines & Minerals Development be pleased to state:-

The quantity and type of coal (such as Lignite coal, Sub-bituminous coal, Bituminous coal and Anthracite coal) estimated in Thar District as on 1st July, 2008 along with the sulfur content of each type?

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILANI, (Chief Minister) Mines & Minerals Development:

Thar coal field is spread over an area of 9,100 sq. km. in district Tharparkar. The estimated coal reserves of Thar coalfield are 175 Billion Tons, ranked as Lignite. The average sulpher content of Thar Lignite is 0.92% to 1.52% on as received basis.

 

 

*1102. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Mines & Minerals Development be pleased to state:-

The quantity and type of metallic mineral ore reserves in Sindh as on 1st July, 2008?

No metallic mineral in any sizeable quantity has been reported in Sindh.

*1330. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Mines & Minerals Development be pleased to state:-

Location-wise quantity of mines of marbles and precious stones exists in district Thatta alongwith different kinds of these precious stones?

 

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILANI, (Chief Minister) Mines & Minerals Development:

There has been no discovery of any precious stone in District Thatta. As regard Marble, it is informed that scattered deposits of Golden Marble deposits have been found over an area of 100 sq. km in Sonda area of District Thatta. The quantity of Golden Marble in these reserves is estimated to be over 50 million tons is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

 

*1331. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Mines & Minerals Development be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that reti, bajri and precious stones are being stolen from various areas of Thatta district such as Makli, Sonda, Filter plant Gharo, Jang-Shahi etc;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in affirmative, steps taken or intended to be taken by the Government in this respect?

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILANI, (Chief Minister) Mines & Minerals Development:

(a)      There are no know deposits of precious stones in the area of District Thatta. There are 19 mining permits issued for excavation of Sand (Reti Bajri) and Limestone in District Thatta. No complain of any illegal mining has been received by the Mines and Mineral Development Department recently.

(b)      The act of illegal mining is punishable under the act “Sindh Prohibition of taking Minerals including Reti (Sand) Bajri from any Land Act 2003” (Annexure-I). The actions taken against complaints of illegal mining in the year 2008 are at Annexure-II).

*1333. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Labour be pleased to state:-

(a)   Total number of brick kilns in Sindh at present along with the number of above kilns registered and non-registered;

(b)   Is it also a fact that violence and beating incidents have occurred at various brick kilns, if so, action taken by the Department in this regard?

 

ANSWER

MR. AMIR NAWAB, Minister for Labour:

(a)      The total number of registered brick kilns in Sindh under the Factories Act 1934 is 173.

(b)      No incident of violence and beating has been reported by the brick kilns workers to this Directorate. Further, the Directorate of Labour in not empowered to intervene in this. Action can be taken by Police in respect of violence and beating incident under CrCP and PPC.

 

 

*1338. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Industries be pleased to state:-

(a)   Date on which industries were closed at the various areas of District Thatta, such as Gharo Textile Mill, Pakistan PVC Gharo, Paper Mill Gharo, Hamraz Mill Gharo, Madina Textile Mill, Azmat Textile Mill and Thatta Sugar Mill;

(b)   Whether it is a fact that Governments intends to reopen the said Mills;

(c)    If answer to (b) above be in affirmative, action intended to be taken by the Government in this regard?

No information has so far been received regarding closure of any industry due to Load Shedding.

Intention of Sindh Government to establish Cottage Industry in the rural areas of the Province?

 

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD ABDUL RAUF SIDDIQUI, Minister for Industries:

Sindh Small Industries Corporation has established 16 Industries Estate & 03 Industrial Parks in the province of Sindh at annexure, placed on the table of the House.

(a)   Is it a fact that shifting of foreign currency, industries and trade is still continued to the foreign countries;
