*390. SYED GHULAM SHAH JILANI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

(a)  Is it a fact that in Taluka Johi, District Dadu there is scarcity of drinking water people are using unhygienic and contaminated water of ponds and wells;

(b)  If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, intention of Government to provide drinking water and survey carried out for launching water supply schemes with estimated cost?

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD ADIL SIDDIQUI, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

(a)   It is correct that Taluka Johi Consist of Kachho area & there is always scarcity of sweet drinking & potable drinking water. The department has carried out complete survey of the area & PC-I/cost for the year 2007-2008 submitted to District Government for i/c in various progorammes in Taluka Johi but could not be started by the District Government due to non release of availability of required funds.

Further more the following Water Supply Schemes were also initiated in 2007-2008, if the balance funds are released the schemes will be completed and made functional and benefit be given to public (District Funded Schemes)

(a)  Village wise name/numbers of water supply schemes functional, nonfunctional and under process alongwith expenditure incurred therein on villages of Taluka Johi, District Dadu;

(b)  Steps taken by the Government to re-start them?

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD ADIL SIDDIQUI, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

(a)   16 Nos. W/S/ Scheme are functional Annexure-A placed on the table of the House.

07 Nos. W/S/ Scheme are Non-functional Annexure-B placed on the table of the House.

03 Nos. W/S/ Scheme are on going Annexure-C placed on the table of the House.

Estimate cost Rs. 25.114 Million

Expenditure upto June, 2008 Rs. 14.293 Million

(District funded schemes)

(b)   The Estimates for Rehabilitation of non-functional Schemes Annexure-D placed on the table of the House, has been got prepared and submitted to Govt. for release of required funds.

 

 

*654. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

The number of drainage schemes approved for District Hyderabad for Fiscal year 2008-09 along with details thereof?

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD ADIL SIDDIQUI, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

No drainage schemes approved for District Hyderabad for Fiscal year 2008-2009.

 

 

*655. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

Is it fact that there is no provision of treatment of sewerage water for the residents of Tando Mohammad Khan town and all the effluent is directly drained in to Irrigation Canals?

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD ADIL SIDDIQUI, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

The drainage scheme Tando Muhammad Khan was completed in the year 2005 by Public Health Engg: Division Hyderabad and handed over to TMA Tando Muhammad Khan for its regular operation and maintenance. At present the scheme is being maintained by TMA Tando Muhammad Khan. The scheme comprises of three disposal works in Zone-A, B & C and the sewerage water is disposed off in oxidation ponds/treatment works constructed for Zone-A,B & C. after treatment the treated water is finally disposed off in Phulleli Canal/Scarp Drain.


*725. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

Total expenditure of Water Supply Schemes for CDG Karachi from 1st July, 2006 to 30th June, 2008 alongwith quantity and source of water supplied under these schemes?

(b)   Is it a fact that the work has been stopped due to shortage of funds;

*1096. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

District-wise number of people with access to potable water and who have to drink contaminated water in the Province as on 3rd September, 2008?

ANSWER

MR. MUHAMMAD ADIL SIDDIQUI, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

District wise number of people with access to potable water, Annexure-A placed on the table of the Hose. However, so far number of people who have used contaminated water as on     3rd September, 2008 is concerned. PHED have no such exact information. For this purpose various organization i.e. PCRWR. Bureau of Statistics P&D Department, Environment & Health Department may be in better position to assess the number of people using contaminated water.
